St Hubert was a wealthy courtier who was devoted to hunting. Once when he was hunting on Good Friday morning, he saw the vision of a crucifix between the antlers of a stag and heard a voice saying “Hubert, unless you turn to the Lord, and lead a holy life, you shall quickly go down to hell.†The experience converted Hubert to live a more Godly life. He left court and began to study for the priesthood. After he was ordained, he became bishop of Masstricht, Belgium and was known for his excellent preaching and generosity to the poor.
